After they located and marked the grave site, Johann and Robert drove Father O’Regan back to the rectory.

“You going to be okay?” Johann asked as the priest got out of the car. Father O’Regan turned and looked at him. His eyes were still moist with tears.

“Yeah. I’ll be okay. You two be careful, alright?”

“We’ll be fine,” Robert answered. They watched the priest until he went inside the rectory, then drove off to do what they both knew they had to do.

“So, do you think this will end it?” Robert asked.

“I don’t know. I hope so. It sure sounds like she was the spirit that was doing this.”

“But, I still don’t see why she would kill Kaden,” Robert said. Johann looked over at him.

“I dunno. Maybe because he was weak enough for her to get in and kill Father Batchelder. Could be any reason. Might even be something he did that wasn’t related to this at all,” Johann said.

“Well, at least Father O’Regan and that other guy who was with them that night will be safe. Looks like she only got two of the four guys involved,” Robert said.

“We’ll see,” said Johann.

A short while later, after making a quick stop at their motel room to change back into their regular clothing, they arrived back at the spot. Johann parked the Mustang on the side of the road. The two demon hunters got out of the car. They retrieved shovels, holy water, salt, lighter fluid, and matches from the trunk and proceeded to the grave site they marked earlier.

It was quiet in the woods. The dried leaves crunched under their feet as the demon hunters walked through the forest. The only other sounds were the birds chirping, and the slight rustle of the autumn leaves in the light breeze. The sky was bright blue with high, wispy clouds, and the temperature was very comfortable. The day was better suited to hiking through the woods and enjoying nature rather than carrying out what they had to do.

Johann and Robert arrived at the spot and dropped their shovels and other supplies to the ground. The sound of the metal shovel blades striking each other as they fell seemed so out of place in the peacefulness of the woods.

Robert had sadness in his eyes as he looked at the letters carved into the tree. He tried to imagine how hard it must have been that night for everyone involved. Johann looked at him and could see what was on his mind.

“Don’t let it bother you, Bob. We’re going to have to deal with stuff like this a lot in times to come,” Johann said. Robert looked at him with a concerned expression..

“How can you have no feelings about this?” Robert asked.

“I do have feelings about this,” Johann said. “I think it’s terrible. I’m just saying that you have to get past it. You can’t let it get to you because it’ll distract you. Trust me, the demons want nothing more than for us to be distracted.
